I assume 05.01.2010 is Aussie format, therefore meaning Jan 5? Damn, I'll still be in Japan. Wish I could go! (Though I'll be having not a bad time myself that day) ;)

Nope, it's May 01, 2010, not January.

Awesome guy to break your concert cherry on!
He doesn't have much of a stage show/presence at all, but you can feel the passion so clear in his voice. I've started crying while singing along, just from the joy/energy, in the past, and Small's is a great venue for Shear imho, because it's quite small, simple, and thus intimate, much like his performances. I'm sure your daughter will have a blast.

Well, I'll have to disagree with you on Tom not having much of a stage presence, IMO Shear is one of the best synthpop performers I've ever seen... But I will agree that there is a lot of passion in his voice, that's for serious. Also will agree that Small's is a great venue for them, last time they were here was at Small's and it was awesome. Their new album Compass is amazing, cant wait to see him perform some of these songs live! And glad to hear that someone is going to see A23 as their first concert, good choice :)

Sorry, semantics, I was not trying to say he doesn't have presense, as a singer he has it in buckets, which is why his voice/seeing him live can just tear me down in a good way inside. What I meant was, he does not do a 'show' per ce, no vidoes/fancy lights, etc, and this is perfectly fine, he doesn't need the theatrics imho. It is a mute/pointless point though really, so not sure why I felt the need to make the distinction. I'll be there regardless =)
